August 1, 2008 / Dictionary for Scholastic
The full version of the dictionary for the Scholastic publishing house has been implemented according to the design specifications of their specialists.
Three interconnected components have been implemented:
  • Full version of the dictionary

  • Mini dictionary maker: This special program allows a user to create and print her own mini-dictionary. The user enters words and selects the desired definitions, and the program creates a print-ready page that displays this data.

  • Quiz Maker: This special program allows the user to create and print quizzes. As in the mini-dictionary maker, the user enters the words and selects the desired definitions. The program creates a print-ready quiz page in which a student demonstrates knowledge of the selected vocabulary by providing the word that matches the definitions provided.

July 1, 2008 / Floater-version of dictionary for Scholastic
Our company has collaborated with Scholastic, a world-renowned publishing house, in the implementation of a floater version of the Wordsmyth dictionary. In this project, Envion professionals have been largely responsible for implementing a complex design specified by education specialists from Scholastic.
The floater-version of the dictionary includes the following features:
  • It is a small HTML-window appearing on every page of the Scholastic site.
  • As a user scrolls through data on a page, the window maintains its position unless the user moves it.
  • Double clicking on any word in the text of the web page activates a search for the word in the dictionary.
  • The dictionary window contains concise versions of Wordsmyth dictionary entries.
Since the window appears to "float" on the page, it is called a "floater."
