Car Haul Direct provides nationwide vehicle transport for consumers, dealerships, auctions, fleets, collectors, and enterprise operations.
When we joined the project, the platform already had an ambitious direction. The previous development team had explored using AI across several parts of the product, but the underlying system needed to be stabilized, restructured, and prepared for dependable growth.
Our role was not simply to repair a website. It was to rescue the product, protect its existing business operations, and create a stronger technical foundation for the future.
The Challenge
Vehicle-transport pricing is influenced by far more than mileage. Routes, ZIP codes, vehicle specifications, carrier availability, rural locations, seasonal demand, and transport type can all affect the final calculation.
The platform also depended on Super Dispatch for important operational data. If the external service failed to respond, customers could be left without a quote and the business could lose a valuable lead.

Pricing That Survives Failures
Building a Shadow Pricing Matrix
One of the most important improvements was the development of an intelligent pricing matrix that operates as a shadow calculation layer behind Super Dispatch.
When Super Dispatch responds normally, the platform can use its data as expected. If the service becomes unavailable or fails to return a result, the shadow matrix provides an alternative calculation path — reducing dependency on a single external service and helping keep the quoting process available when customers need it.
AI-assisted modelling was used to develop and refine the matrix, making it capable of evaluating complex pricing conditions and supporting future optimisation.
Dynamic ZIP and Rural Route Calculations
Standard route data does not always represent remote or rural locations accurately.
We introduced dynamic ZIP-code and route-number calculations to improve pricing coverage for less common destinations. This allows the platform to handle locations that may not fit neatly into conventional transport lanes while maintaining a consistent quoting experience.
The Calculator and API
The calculator and API became the two central products within the Car Haul Direct ecosystem. The instant quote calculator evaluates the shipment route and vehicle information to produce fast, transparent pricing based on real transport factors rather than a simple mileage estimate.

A More Powerful Administration Panel
The backend administration panel gives the Car Haul Direct team direct control over essential business operations.
Administrators can add and manage clients, update dynamic pricing rules, and adjust the information used by the calculator and API. This reduces dependence on developers for routine commercial changes and enables the business to respond more quickly to changing market conditions.
Smarter Customer Communication
A smart chatbot was added to help customers navigate the transport process, understand available services, and find answers to common questions.
The chatbot supports customers at the beginning of their journey while helping the operations team reduce repetitive enquiries and focus on more complex transport requirements.
Website, SEO and Answer-Engine Visibility
The public-facing website was strengthened alongside the product platform. The content and technical structure were developed to support both traditional search engine optimisation and answer engine optimisation — helping Car Haul Direct build visibility not only in Google and Microsoft search results, but also within AI-powered discovery experiences.
MCP-enabled workflows allow ongoing content and optimisation adjustments through Claude, creating a more flexible process for refining pages as search behaviour, customer questions, and business priorities change.
